Choosing a Fertility Clinic
In making your decision as to which fertility clinic to use you should analyse the information on the types of treatment provided by each clinic, the services and facilities it provides and its success rate based on the age of the patient. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) regulates fertility clinics in the UK. It is a UK government organisation set up to
(i) license and monitor fertility clinics which carry out IVF treatment, donor insemination and human embryo research;
(ii) regulate the storage of gametes (sperm and eggs) and embryos;
(iii) provide a Code of Practice to fertility clinics with guidelines on proper conduct of the fertility treatments HEFA monitors;
(iv) maintain a register of information on donors, treatments and children born as a result of assisted reproduction techniques; and
(v) provide relevant advice and information to patients, donors and clinics.
